With the conclusion of the League of Legends World Championship 2019, comes the post season and a new slew of plans for Legue of Legends 2020.
As of the moment, the World Championship 2020 will be held in China and its finals in Shanghai. The event itself will be hosted across 6 cities in China, hitting the milestone of the having the highest amount of host cities since its inception.
Shanghai itself is no stranger in hosting the finals as it hosted the 2017 League of Legends World Championship Finals, the bout between SKT Telecom T1 and Samsung Galaxy.
The aim for the year of 2020 is for League of Legends Esports to be fully sustainable in its 10th Year. According John Needham, global head of esports for Riot Games: ” We’re going to grow revenues by 50% this year, and probably 50% again next year,” he said. “We’re aiming for full sustainability in the tenth year of our sport. I don’t know that that’s been done in any major traditional sport, so I’m super bullish on the future businesswise”
As we are a few months away from entering the year 2020, Riot will probably shed more light into their plan of self sustainability
